Engineer PR: Australia vs Canada

Engineers are in demand in both — but the assessment bodies differ.

Australia

Engineers apply through Engineers Australia (EA) skills assessment and are typically on the MLTSSL, opening 189/190/491. Civil, electrical and mechanical engineers are consistently listed. Competent English (MET or CELPIP) is required.

Canada

In Canada, engineers qualify under Express Entry (FSWP/CEC) and the STEM category. Note: the title 'Professional Engineer' is regulated provincially (you need P.Eng to practise independently), but immigration does not require it — skilled work experience and CLB 7+ English (CELPIP) do.
