The MET Writing test has two tasks. You have 45 minutes total. Your responses will be scored by AI using official MET criteria.

Tasks

  • Task 1: Answer three short personal questions
  • Task 2: Write an opinion essay discussing both views

You have 45 minutes total to complete both tasks. Manage your own time.

Scoring: Your responses will be evaluated by AI on official MET criteria: Grammatical Accuracy, Vocabulary, Mechanics, Cohesion & Organization, and Task Completion.

How MET Scores Writing

The MET Writing section contains two tasks worth equal weight, each scored by trained raters on a 0-80 scale. You have 45 minutes total to complete both tasks. Responses are evaluated on five official criteria:

Common mistake: Not managing time well. Budget your 45 minutes across both tasks. Outline briefly before writing to stay organized. Strong essays typically run 250+ words.
